  • The Northern Road Intersections upgrade

Penrith City Council was granted $6.7 million to upgrade intersections on The Northern Road at the Great Western Highway, Derby Street and Bringelly Road/Caddens Road. The intersections forms a part of the A9 corridor connecting Windsor to Campbelltown via Penrith. The upgrade of intersection will significantly improve road safety and traffic efficiency.

The upgrade of The Northern Road (Parker St)/Barber Ave intersection and The Northern Road (Parker St)/Great Western Highway intersection consisted of construction of stormwater drainage, utility relocation, road works and the upgrade of traffic signals.

The work includes upgrading The Northern Road (Parker St)/Derby Street intersection which consists of construction of stormwater drainage, utility relocation, road works and the upgrade of traffic signals.

The map below shows changes to traffic and pedestrian access. Intersection upgrade works at Derby St and Parker St commenced in early November and a bus shelter in derby st has been relocated just outside the Nepean Hospital. Due to performance and contractual issues, council has terminated the contract and will be appointing a new contractor to complete the remaining works.

Unfortunately there will be some delay and community will be informed in advance when the remaining works can recommence.
