Hospitality industry forum

Sunday, 28 April 2024

Penrith Mayor Todd Carney is pleased to announce that Penrith City Council will be hosting a Hospitality Industry Forum which will allow local businesses to come together to discuss the hospitality sector.

“The purpose of the forum is to allow local bars, cafes and restaurants to share their stories and provide feedback on how government and business can support each other in building resilience in the area of hospitality,” Cr Carney said.

“It is a tough time for business, particularly with the cost-of-living pressures leading to reduced consumer spending, increases in rent and operating costs as well as staff shortages all affecting our local businesses.”

Cr Carney said it’s extremely important that we gauge business’ opinion of the current operating environment to gain further insight into what is occurring in the sector and how Council can support local businesses.

“A survey is also currently available as an opportunity for businesses to provide their feedback if they are unable to attend the forum, with the results to be shared with the participants at the forum.”

The survey will gauge business sentiment and provide further insights into what is happening in the sector, and it closes on 1 May 2024. The survey link can be found here: Penrith Hospitality Industry Survey April 2024

The forum will be held on Tuesday, 7 May from 10.00am-12.00pm at Mr Watkins, High Street Penrith. RSVP via

The forum's purpose is to allow local restaurants, cafes and bars to share their stories on how they are responding to changing consumer behaviour, and to discuss how government and business can work together to build resilience in this sector.

“I would love to see many businesses attend – it is vital to have local hospitality businesses supported.”
