Empowering Penrith: a plan for growth and prosperity unveiled in new Economic Development and Visitor Economy strategies

Penrith City Council is proud to announce the endorsement of its Economic Development and Visitor Economy Strategies earlier this month.

At the heart of these strategies lie carefully crafted Strategic Priorities, reflecting Council's commitment to fostering a resilient and dynamic local economy. The Economic Development Strategy seeks to attract investment, create vibrant centres, leverage the city’s wealth of employment lands, nurture the jobs of the future, and inspire innovation. The priorities for the Visitor Economy Strategy include building on the City’s accommodation diversity, leveraging events and festival assets, foster family friendly experiences, unlock culture food and heritage experiences, continue destination marketing and partner and industry collaboration.

Council’s objectives are clear: to deliver more jobs closer to home for our residents, enhance liveability, and create a vibrant and diverse community. The strategies outline actionable objectives, ensuring that every step taken contributes to the overarching goal of positioning Penrith as a regional leader.

Penrith is strategically located in one of Australia’s fastest growing areas, with plenty of land to develop, and 37% (1028 ha) of future employment lands in Greater Sydney. A myriad of investment opportunities are on offer in the economic triangle connecting Penrith, St Marys and the Western Sydney International Airport, including the Quarter Penrith Health and Education Precinct, Mamre Road Precinct, and three new Western Sydney Airport Metro stations.

With established connectivity, amenity and opportunity, Penrith is well placed to deliver the dream of a 30-minute City - where people live within 30 minutes of their jobs, educational institutions, healthcare, and great places. As we embark on this exciting journey, we will build a Penrith that not only meets the needs of today but also lays the foundation for generations to come.
