New specialist facility coming to Nepean Hospital

Young people in Penrith will soon have access to a dedicated Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services Unit (CAMHS), with construction of a new specialist facility at Nepean Hospital underway.

13 people wearing high visibility vests and hard hatsCo-designed by young people and carers, CAMHS will provide essential mental health care to young people aged between 12 and 17.

When complete, the unit will feature 10 single bedrooms with ensuites, a secure indoor communal area and private outdoor courtyard, consultation rooms, and workspaces. There will also be a dedicated sensory room, learning centre and media room.

The unit will be located next to the existing Adult Mental Health Unit at Nepean Hospital and will have the capacity to serve over 250 patients each year.

These works form part of the $1 billion Nepean Redevelopment which is delivering new and upgraded health facilities to service the growing population of Penrith and surrounds.
